Holds a medical degree from the University of São Paulo (1972), a master's degree in Clinical Medicine from the University of São Paulo (1978) and a doctorate in Clinical Medicine from the University of São Paulo (1981). Is currently Full Professor of the Physiology Department of the Ribeirão Preto Medical School, University of São Paulo. Has experience in Medicine, with emphasis in Nephrology, working mainly on the following themes: molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in progressive renal disease, renal nephrotoxicity and development.
